The Assault on Reality / Re: August 2017 solar eclipse

I think it's time to tear down the temple and rebuild on the old foundation. Should be able to come up with something.

There's a lot there, I'd encourage you to chill in the IRC as well, some of us aren't fond of Facebook ;)

In addition there's a lot that kiki's put on scribed, a library portion on the site here, and even a subreddit. There are various pdfs of publications that have been put out. The Assault on Reality is good I think for a more historical perspective, but at this point I think the go-to volume is Liber LS.

I was not aware of this, but Arjil has some very nice introductory information regarding the LS on the Learning Annex channel on YouTube.

General Occultism / Re: What is your Great Work?
December 13, 2016, 03:22:58 AM
I think for me it really is as simple as self-improvement. I really cannot change the situation I am in without just doing something about it msself. One can travel throughout hyperspace, make it to all corners of the universe...but when you come back here...there's still things which much be dealt with. Really...it's about me. Who else could it be about? So I've gotta get my shit in gear, improve and change my life for the better.

As below, so above.

Indeed, I concur on the IRC. I think the biggest portion we're facing with getting individuals in is the lack of awareness. Please pop in and say high, we won't bite hard. We've been in the mindset of trying to develop new projects there in real-time, and then create forum posts here to establish a centralized location to discuss.

Irc can be jumped in through the website or through an IRC client. Hope to see you there.

Welcome to have you. We all have our minds buggered now and again. Part of life I expect. Thanks for the intro, glad you decided to post.

I think this has a lot of potential. There are all sorts of concepts I can see translating from the computer metaphor that could be applicable here. I think establishing some basic protocols for communication, energy transference/filtering, basic utilities, etc. would be highly beneficial.

The concept can be mapped out further if you think about small unix applications, the design philosophy of which is to take one thing, do it really well. These then tend to get piped together, strung around in batch scripts, etc. to create more complicated programs.

I think what we need are community-drive established "protocol-sigils" for various functions. Really need to define what we are trying to create, and then strict rules to enforce it, so things can be better organized.  Sigils are already mini-magick programs (achieve(goal), finances++, etc.).

Since we already have a network, perhaps a first order program would be a simple "search" or "query" tool..."list nodes matching <parameter>"?

Where else could we start building on top of the hardware layer of the LS? How much is already built in to the network? Is it worth adding another layer on top to standardize with a fallback to the LS? This can be built up into magical applications of programming software etc. even. Maybe I'm fetishizing technology a bit too much here?

What locality is this in? I doubt it's near me, but any chance to meet and greet, and socialize would be excellent.

Thanks

I'd also encourage you to look at the Futhark for meaning in the original as well. In the center we have "Mannaz" (Man), flanked by "Gyfu" (Gift/Generosity) on either side. The angled "pentagram" version maintains this configuration.

The Auspice Maria and Masonic symbolism is similar, but I'm questioning the connection a bit more than what appears to me to be a blatant runic reference.

I'd be curious to hear your thoughts regarding the runic symbolism and if you could lend any personal interpretation based on your experience(s).

Ya ho!

Never can have too many media magicians around these parts.

First time I tried to upload an avatar it seemed to fail...doesn't list any requirements, but I was able to the second time with a 256x256 png, ymmv.

Welcome!

Greetings! I'm out of the Facebook loop myself for personal reasons, but rejoined here in hopes of getting some more content going on the forums themselves, and maybe get some new bodies into IRC.

I'm rereading the AoR myself, going to be going through things, eventually start taking some notes as well in preparation of getting down in the ditches again. Welcome to yourself.

Welcome, glad to have more artists on board as well! Feel free to share any pics if you haven't already on the artists section of the boards. I don't get over to FB, but am always on IRC right now.

Ya ho!

Yup, just getting back into things again myself. Hope to stir up a nice batch of ole emps again. I'm always around on IRC as well, would be great to get more discussion in there too.

Welcome, hope to see you around.
