It bears mentioning that any fleshcrafted should expect the possibility of an energy surge from their sigils during the ritual, and should prepare any necessary precautions.

Hey there! Most of the action seems to be happening in the facebook group nowadays, but you'll see some activity trickle through here from time to time. Always good to see new people showing up though, this forum could use some more activity.

My idea is similar, but I don't want Ellis involved at all. Ive already seen that post and Im actually keeping tabs on it! Ellis is just too big and cluttered for what I'm setting up. I want it to be as efficient a tool as possible.

Oh, cool. Maybe there can be some useful overlap. The only thing holding back that project is that I have no magickal acuity yet and can't test it myself.

We already started designing something like this a few weeks ago. Maybe add your thoughts to this project unless your idea is wildly different. I'd like to get something standardized (lol) and then tested.

Draft 2
In this new concept draft of the Routing Protocol, an LS is surrounded with four quadrants -- one above, below, left, and right.

  • Top Quadrant contains the address of the sigil. Multiple sigils may share the same address.
  • Left Quadrant contains a the sigil address to pull from or block rx from, or list thereof.
  • Right Quadrant contains the sigil address to push to or block tx to, or list thereof.
  • Bottom Quadrant has two legs. The left leg, read top to bottom, will contain code to be run on energy after it is received. The right leg, also read top to bottom, will contain code to be run on energy before it is transmitted.
A list of addresses is surrounded by parentheses. Addresses surrounded on four corners with an "x" are blocked. Each quadrant's code is ended with a terminus. The entire "body" of the setup, the "router", is a low-level servitor which assists with the described functions. The lower quadrant itself, the "stack", is also a servitor on its own, being subservient to the first, which runs code in a yet-to-be-written symbolic language.

I hope drawing the LS on this silly notepad I had lying around doesn't give Ken Cooley any untoward advantage. Maybe something weird will happen.

Two alternate designs without the code section, which can accept arbitrary secondary inputs/outputs:

You can think of these little guys as servitors too. For the body to be "closed" means that energy from the general surroundings won't affect or be affected by the sigil (in ideal conditions).

Example Use of the Routing Layer:
You have a magic crystal and I have a magic crystal. Both are needed for my ritual, but we cannot get to each other. I place an addressed sigil where the second crystal needs to be, and you connect your crystal to a sigil which pushes energy to my address. I perform my ritual, pretending that the second crystal is present, and use its energy through the sigil. This theoretically passes clearer energy with far less noise than just drawing an LS and trying to use an intent to filter all of the energies of the entire network down to that of a single crystal somewhere else. However...

Potential Issue - Noise:
The Linking Sigil network is noisy. It contains an amalgam of countless energies, all trying their best to push their way out of every instance of the sigil. Even if we surround an LS with protocol symbols, that LS is still an LS, and therefore the rules of the original LS apply. By using the intent of making it an addressed sigil we can block these extraneous energies to an extent, but an enormous will is required to filter all energies, and some noise will likely still pass through. Some level of signal noise is unavoidable when using the network, but I suggest that it may be decreased further, in concert with the use of intent and protocol symbols, by using a slightly modified LS for work with the routing layer. I name this concept the "Routing Sigil", a subtype of the Linking Sigil. Draft designs for the Routing Sigil are welcome in this thread. This is just an idea and may be abandoned.

A thought: Replace the dot to the left, originally designed as an anchoring point, with something more deliberate. We might change its attachment just enough to disconnect it slightly from the overall energies of the network while piggybacking off the network. Whatever we place there should signify direct connection between things. It will still be an LS and look very much like one, but with slightly different intent drawn in. Maybe make it look less like a hole into something and more like an antenna.

This is an afterthought and should be focused on after the protocol is made.

I think that very first we must design the systems for addressing sigils, and basic routing functions between addresses. This is the backbone of the system, and central to the project. Once those designs are finalized we can work on the development of further protocol. As best I know, never before has there been a way for sigils to search each other out in particular, to link specific sigils to one another rather than just linking into the entire pool. This will be a secondary layer to the existing network. It will not be possible to link directly to an unaddressed sigil from an addressed sigil; only protocol sigils may participate in this new layer, but they are still a part of the whole. You could however have an addressed sigil push energy to the entire network, as this is what the LS has always done by design.

The protocol must also be easy to read. It should be, to an extent, self evident what the geometric shapes comprising the protocol are for. This is what I tried to do in my draft, though I do not think the final version will look the same. We should submit drafts of various geometric designs for the control symbols like I have done in the first post.

Things to accomplish first off:

  • Addressing sigils. Multiple sigils may share the same address, making them a group. The address can be anything recognizable, be it number, word, or another sigil.
  • Routing between addresses. A sigil may route energy input to it to another address, pull energy from another address, or block the push or pull of energy from/to various addresses, or only allow access from certain addresses while blocking all others.
  • Enumerating lists of addresses for routing. Push/pull to/from a list of addresses.
Things to possibly accomplish later:

  • Programming-like logic. A geometric programming language which can utilize the routing layer network. Things like conditionals, for loops, etc.
  • Querying the status of other sigils, for use in logic.
  • All sorts of shit.
In short, currently when someone throws energy into an LS, it spreads across the entire network. When someone pulls from the LS, they can filter with intent, but they are just pulling certain kinds of energy out of the network as a whole. Routing will allow energy to be put into one LS and come out ONLY at another specific LS, or for energy to be pulled ONLY from a specific LS. This level of control did not exist previously.

Currently, L.S. is a decentralized network where every sigil is attached to every other sigil. Too broad! If we can draw the sigil, why not also be able to visually represent some protocols for routing energies between specific sigils and groups of sigils, and for addressing of those sigils, or perhaps even for more complex concepts? And furthermore, these protocols could perhaps even be standardized to an extent for the easy use of all.

I present what is in no way a final draft, an early, simple example of a simple L.S. Addressing and Routing Protocol.

General Occultism / What is your Great Work?
November 12, 2016, 06:08:06 PM
If you have one and it's not a private thing, what is your Great Work? Your ultimate goal for using magic which you hope to some day achieve.

My ultimate goal is still nebulous, but I hope to make the world a more adventurous place along the way, if I can. Maybe that will turn out to be my goal.

General Occultism / Re: What makes you interested?
November 12, 2016, 02:14:29 PM
In 2011 or so, I left my Christianity behind on the roof of a hotel in LA, during AnimeExpo. I was really really high (for one of the first times) and this homeless guy came up to me and started talking about quantum mechanics and shit. Something I had been trying to get rid of finally just snapped and my entire value system reorganized on the spot. It was a really great feeling. I gave the guy $100 to travel back across the states and eventually we became good friends, though that's another long and bizzarre story.

Not long after while on a trip to Germany with some friends, I stumbled mistakenly upon the Principia Discordia while absently wikisurfing, and it really struck a chord with me. I've been warped in the head ever since. Then, it turned out that the German friend we had gone to visit was also a Discordian! I guess my primary reason for being here is that I am in agreement with the Principia's claim that the world is currently awfully short on creative disorder. I want to learn to use magick to make the world a more adventurous place. Therefore, my eventual lofty goal is magick that can affect the outcomes and potentiality of an entire world.

I had been studying Chaos Magick on and off for a few months, when while searching for related Internet communities (of which there are sadly few at this time,) I came across the DKMU website just a week or so ago and knew I had found a valuable tool and resource for my pursuits, and people with the same general goal as mine. I've stuck around ever since.

The Armchair's Lounge / Excerpt from The Magus
November 11, 2016, 11:35:33 AM
An excellent parable about magic, belief, and perception quoted from "The Magus". Thoughts?

-----

Once upon a time there was a young prince who believed in all things but three. He did not believe in princesses, he did not believe in islands, he did not believe in God. His father, the king, told him that such things did not exist. As there were no princesses or islands in his father's domains, and no sign of God, the prince believed his father.

But then, one day, the prince ran away from his palace and came to the next land. There, to his astonishment, from every coast he saw islands, and on these islands, strange and troubling, creatures whom he dared not name. As he was searching for a boat, a man in full evening dress approached him along the shore. "Are those real islands?" asked the young prince.

"Of course they are real islands," said the man in evening dress.

"And those strange and troubling creatures?"

"They are all genuine and authentic princesses."

"Then God must also exist!" cried the prince.

"I am God," replied the man in evening dress, with a bow.

The young prince returned home as quickly as he could.

"So, you are back," said his father, the king.

"I have seen islands, I have seen princesses, I have seen God," said the prince reproachfully.

The king was unmoved.

"Neither real islands, nor real princesses, nor a real God exist."

"I saw them!"

"Tell me how God was dressed."

"God was in full evening dress."

"Were the sleeves of his coat rolled back?"

The prince remembered that they had been. The king smiled.

"That is the uniform of a magician. You have been deceived."

At this, the prince returned to the next land and went to the same shore, where once again he came upon the man in full evening dress.

"My father, the king, has told me who you are," said the prince indignantly. "You deceived me last time, but not again. Now I know that those are not real islands and real princesses, because you are a magician."

The man on the shore smiled.

"It is you who are deceived, my boy. In your father's kingdom, there are many islands and many princesses. But you are under your father's spell, so you cannot see them."

The prince pensively returned home. When he saw his father, he looked him in the eye.

"Father, is it true that you are not a real king, but only a magician?"

The king smiled and rolled back his sleeves.

"Yes, my son, I'm only a magician."

"Then the man on the other shore was God."

"The man on the other shore was another magician."

"I must know the truth, the truth beyond magic."

"There is no truth beyond magic," said the king.

The prince was full of sadness. He said, "I will kill myself."

The king by magic caused death to appear. Death stood in the door and beckoned to the prince. The prince shuddered. He remembered the beautiful but unreal islands and the unreal but beautiful princesses.

"Very well," he said, "I can bear it."

"You see, my son," said the king, "you, too, now begin to be a magician."

A rough draft of a simple personal banishing ritual built around concepts of the Linking Sigil and Operation 531. Meditation is used for initial grounding, chakra visualization is used for body awareness, a perimiter is described which incorporates fun hand motions and the sigil in the four cardinal directions, and an incantation connects above with below and evokes imagery of the L.S. and 531, while also incorporating fun hand motions. To close at the end of your business, the geometry of the perimeter is untraced in reverse, and the sigils are dispelled with a resounding clap and a spoken word. The closing ends with unvisualization of the chakras and meditation for grounding.

Preparation:
1) Sit and meditate until grounded.
2) Visualize the chakras as glowing balls of light within the body, following the colors of the rainbow from red at the root to violet at the crown.
3) Starting at the root and working upward, visualize the chakras glowing brighter and larger as they begin to spin counterclockwise faster and faster.
4) Stand.
5) Allow the lights to grow and merge with each other, into a white light surrounding and permeating the body.

Opening:
1) Begin facing east or toward a window or exit.
2) Point the forefinger and middle finger of both hands forward, the right one about two to four feet below the left (based on preference.)
3) Rotate the fingers counterclockwise tracing a square until the fingers have changed places.
4) Rotate the fingers clockwise now, tracing a circle inside the square, touching its edges.
5) Lower the left hand. With the right fingers, draw the linking sigil inside the circle.
6) Turning counterclockwise, repeat steps 2-5 for each cardinal direction.
7) Return to facing east, with hands at sides.
8) Speak the incantation while following the hand gestures:

And upon this mark, (hands cupped)
I unite the worlds (hands pressed together)
Beneath the golden sun. (hands raised)
The sigil beside me, (hands reaching to the sides)
Empower and guide me, (hands on chest)
Five, three, one. (digits drawn in the air with right fingers, on top of the east facing sigil)

9) Perform your work.

Closing:
1) Begin facing east (or same direction as opening).
2) Perform steps 2-7 from the opening, excluding 5, but reverse all directions of motion. (Counterclockwise becomes clockwise etc.) Erase the shapes from earlier as you trace over them in reverse.
3) While facing east, flex outward and bring hands apart.
4) Speak "Ausschalten", and then immediately clap hands together forcefully. (German, def: to turn off, to eliminate)
5) Visualize the sigils exploding outward and disintegrating.
6) Visualize that the area has returned to normal. (Unless the goal was to change the energy of the area.)

End:
1) Visualize the white light fading inward as the chakras slow down and shrink to their original size and luminosity one at a time, working downward starting from the crown.
2) Cease visualizing the chakras.
3) Sit and meditate until grounded.
