Have I forgotten how to feel?
Since I don't remember when,
I'm not sure I know what's real.

My soul feels cold and numb,
And most of the time,
The words just won't come.

This morbid stillness haunts my mind,
But somewhere deep inside of me,
A small candle flickers that I can't seem to find.

I can't let this flame die,
Even if it ends me.

I can still remember when
I used to shine so brightly,
But everything was simpler then.

I guess I gave up fighting
By staring at the sun too long,
And now that fire is hiding.

And every single day,
My bloodied phantom searches
While my spirit wastes away.

I won't let this flame die,
Even if it burns me.

What I wouldn't give to feel again!
The depths of sorrow, joy, and love...
If they could just feel real again!

In crushing darkness, blind, I crawl,
Seeking out that radiant light
I knew before the fall.

I think that fire is searching too.
It yearns for me, its long lost love,
To kindle something beautiful and new.

I can't, I won't let this flame die.
Even if it ends me,
Even if it burns me,
Even if it ends with me burning alive.
