Influencing a coin flip – finally something that works

Hi everyone :)

You might know I tried lots and lots of things to get a short term external effect. Candle flames, incense smoke, a milligram scales, a sensitive thermometer, an EMF meter, lots of dice... and probably other things that I don't remember anymore.

I think I finally found something. it has to be something where there are many variables, and where you are involved a lot, because it's easier to influence your body then something else. So scales and thermometers don't do it. How about throwing a single die and catching it? We tried a few rounds, aiming for 2:

2,5,2,1,2,5
6,2,2,6,3,2
4,2,6,3,2,1
6,4,1,1,1,4

Yeah, the first 12 throws head six 2s. The probability of 3 in 6 is I think ~5%.  Twice in a row will of course be much less. But it's not very pleasant to catch a die and the calculations are slightly complicated.

So we switched to coins. The classic coin toss, where it turns a lot. You do the throw and also the catch. Many variables and you are involved a lot. Here are a few results:

-,+,+,+,+
+,-,-,-,+
+,+,+,-,+
-,+,+,-,+
4+2+4+3 = 13
13 of 20
13 * 5 = 65%

Four in a row happen occasionally – probability 0.5^4 = 1 / 16 = 0.0625 = 6.25%. Once I had 11 correct throws in a row – probability = 0,000488281 = 0,048%.

Of course I tried tossing the same coin without magick, and no, it does not fall on the same side a lot.

So I really recommend trying this. Most of what we do is holding the coin in the flip position, and then charging it. More specifically, we charge the arm and the coin with "We get heads" or so, and the happiness that we will feel then. Pour a lot of energy into it. Like really go all out for a few seconds. Then flip the coin and try to keep the energy flow going at least a little during the spin and the catch.

Note to self: It doesn't work very reliably. And one can always wonder if it's not coincidence anyway.

This is an argument for doing magick where I care about the actual result. If my actual wishes are fulfilled by accident, I will still be happy.

This returns me to Carrol, who says "I do not participate in parapsychology experiments, and I advise my students not to do so. Magic works capriciously and non-repeatably. We should not squander our abilities on things that do not really matter to us."

Just a quick report: Today I really cared about some digital random events and tried to influence them. Let's be honest, it was lootboxes. And it worked – I got what I wanted in a way that is spectacularly unlikely. I got 20 of the desired item, when something around 5 was the expected value. Probability about 0.00054% (~1 in 185,000).

Then I tried replicating this influence in multiple other digital randomness sources about which I didn't care so much, and got no visible results at all. So Pope Pete seems vindicated – "Magic works capriciously and non-repeatably. We should not squander our abilities on things that do not really matter to us."

Sometimes I'm just in the mood for this kind of experiments :D.

Today I read the typical advice of more specific goals. So I'm rolling two dice, and did magick for "Ten and higher". One thing I learned in these experiments is that it's important to roll the dice at a peak of the magick-feeling, of the energy flow. For me, this is usually during an exhale.

I roll series of 5.

"Ten and higher": 11!, 10,7, 10, 10
No magick: 8, 4, 10, 8, 3

Very promising. What I also learned previously is that this is somehow draining, even if I don't feel drained, and usually can't be sustained for long in a day. Still, interesting.

"Ten and higher":  5, 7, 6

Yeah, you see. So maybe not more than one series per... hour or half-day or something.

One more detail: We can tell that we do magick by the feeling of it. Hence, more feeling correlates with more magick – and more effect. So maximise the intensity of the sensation. This is perfectly obvious and yet I realised it only very recently. This means it must be a very good thought, which the Veil kept away for a long time.

A new day, the first roll, 12! (Further attempts yesterday evening all were unimpressive)
Now I want to try if it also works with a dice cup: 5, 9, 7 – unimpressive
More normal rolls ("ten or higher"): 7, 7, 7 – yeah right. Crazy too... 8, 8

I also did like four attempts of 10 dice at the same time... the idea is, since this is exhausting, maybe more dice allow to get more numbers before exhaustion sets in. But all numbers end up very average. Just now I got a 35, which is exactly average, just like 7 with two dice.

No magick: 6, 7, 3, 10, 7
"As high as possible": 7, 7, 6, 4

"Ten, eleven, twelve": 7 – seems like the energy is gone for the morning.

Edit: It's so strange... I rolled yet another 7. Then I thought "Maybe it's enough to show that we always get at least the average, there are no 2s and 3s" – the next roll was a 3.

Feels like it works "capriciously", as Pope Pete said. Like it has emotions. I remember that the Tarot and the Pendulum also don't react well to test questions.

This all sounds crazy, but maybe whatever makes magick work is a more conscious process that I think, and displays this capriciousness when I do things just for statistics...

I decided to "test" this theory and go for "seven or higher" – 6. There is clearly something going on here.

But the lesson is I guess once again, only do what I really care about, not something that's just for demonstration. But why?! I clearly care about these numbers...

I think I start sounding deranged :( , but a question is: Is this magick being capricious, or is this the Veil preventing something that makes magick too visible? Because the former would need to be respected, while the latter might need to be pushed through.

Trying to push through with maximum visualisation and energy flow from a Linking Sigil – surely the tool of choice when it comes to rending the Veil: "as high as possible" – 8,9,8,4,5 – one below the expected.

And if it was the Veil, it shouldn't work at the start either, I guess? Whereas I have really often seen the pattern, that a new idea works at the first 5-10 attempts, producing crazy numbers, and then falls off. The sounds more like capriciousness than like the Veil's anti-magick to me. But crazy speculation it of course remains.

I think they way to make progress on this question is to put the same serious amounts of magick into things I actually need.
